feasibility
From wind prospecting and preliminary assessments to complete and detailed "bankable" reports–we provide it all. EAPC Wind is your one-stop shop for all of your wind assessment needs.
Wind Resource Assessments
Wind Resource Modeling
Utilizing data from publicly available sources such as airports and weather stations, EAPC Wind employs WindPro to create a preliminary wind resource model for any client site. This provides the client with an estimate of the wind resource and potential energy production before investing in erecting a meteorological mast to gather on-site data and can assist clients to select more favorable locations further testing.
Wind Farm Siting and Optimization
Relying on wind data and the results of geographic, environmental and infrastructure studies, we identify the optimal location for a wind farm, and then use powerful modeling software to optimally site the individual wind turbines.
Energy Production Estimates
We provide wind farm energy production estimates which incorporate specific wind turbine power curves with the site-specific terrain features, wind data, array losses and other energy losses to provide the best possible central estimate (P50) of energy production for project and financial planning purposes.
Loss & Uncertainty Analyses
By identifying and quantifying the various sources of uncertainty that are inherent in the energy production estimate, we provide our clients with valuable information regarding the upper and lower confidence limits (ie. P90, P95, etc.) associated with the central estimate (P50) of annual energy production.
For preliminary reports, EAPC Wind can provide an estimated loss value based on our experience with similar projects. With on-site data, we can complete a full loss analysis providing a more accurate energy production estimate. Losses calculated include those such as high wind hysteresis, cold temperature shut-down, and icing.
Environmental Constraints
We screen projects for possible fatal flaws that developers benefit from discovering early on in the process. From the fatal flaw studies we are able to identify exclusion zones based on factors such as forestry and water features, populated areas, conservation lands, state and federally protected lands, threatened and endangered species, and proximity to transmission lines. We also ensure our clients meet FAA regulations and can assist with FAA permit applications.
Constructability Analysis
Our initial review of terrain, soil type, steepness, erosion concerns, and site accessibility saves time and money during permitting and construction.
